We had a great time at Calvert Trust, Kielder. All the children enjoyed spending time together in a new place. We had fun going on the golf buggies through the forest trail, going swimming in the hydro pool, relaxing in the Snoozlem, and then some of us went on the King Swing too!
Pupils from Indigo and Orange classes had a 3 night residential at Bendrigg in Cumbria. They participated in lots of activities including zip wire, archery, ropes course, canoeing, caving, orienteering and a campfire with songs, spooky stories and toasted marshmallows.
Everyone had a wonderful stay, the weather was glorious and we returned home with tired but happy children.
Sixth Form took part in a road trip and visited Edinburgh for their annual summer residential this year. Whilst there we visited a number of the city's top attractions; We were creeped out in The Dungeons, amazed by the illusions in Camera Obscura, Immersed in a 4D cinema experience, and captivated by all of the animals at The Zoo. We stayed in a hostel this year and so as well as dining out we had the opportunity to order in takeaway and we did not hold back! An amazing time had by all. Now we can start to plan next year's adventures!
Secondary students enjoyed a residential trip to the Calvert Trust at Kielder. Students took part in various outdoor activities including sailing, climbing and the zip wire. They also enjoyed a night walk and a safari ride through the forest in golf buggies.
Lots of pupils spent one some two nights up at Beadnell this year. One lucky family won the draw and spent the weekend in Daleby house by the coast.
On our first day we visited Kielder First School where we had lunch our packed lunches. We played on their yard and in the play park nearby. We then had an ice cream at Leaplish Visitor Centre before arriving at the Calvert Trust at 4pm. We settled into our rooms and spent time in the lounge before tea at 6pm. The food at the Calvert Trust is very good. We then used the swimming pool or relaxed and played some more. Nearly everyone was asleep by 9pm!
On the second day we split into two groups to go sailing on Kielder Water and for a ride through the forest in golf buggies. Both of these were great activities to take part in. We were all ready for our dinner at 6pm. Another swim and relaxing playtime then followed until bed time. Everyone seemed to sleep well on the second night; all that fresh air! On Wednesday morning we did some climbing and had turns on the zip wire. Great fun and fantastic bravery, overcoming some understandable fears. We had to be on the bus at 1.30pm in time for returning to school.
We have had a fantastic trip. Thank you to Jo, Liam, Dawn, Becca, Danielle and Lauren for all their hard work and care. Thank you to the Calvert Trust. especially David, Lucy and Craig, our instructors. Mostly thank you to the ten children; for their good team work, physical effort and ability to have fun! Enjoy the photos.
All staff and pupils really enjoyed their holiday at Bendrigg. The weather was a bit chilly, but we managed to do all out planned activities. Our pupils were amazing on the climbing wall, most pupils reached the top and some even climbed the rope! We canoed down a canal and saw some wildlife. Some pupils took part in a new challenge and went Ghyll Scrambling and were able to use the skills they learned o the indoor climbing wall outdoors.
As usual the food was amazing and the pupils were really well behaved! We were all tired when we got back, but are looking forward to next year - in July!
