Takes place on a Monday 3.15pm to 4.15pm. Pupils are taken from their class at the end of the school day to the School Gym. The club provides opportunities for pupils to take part in a wide range of sports activities e.g. archery, cricket, volleyball, rounders, table games, football, tennis and multi skills as well as trampoline, rebound therapy and soft play. The Club is supported by Hexham Priory School staff and Sports Leaders from Queen Elizabeth High School.
Also takes place on a Monday after school at Wentworth Leisure Centre, Hexham. Secondary Department pupils attend on a rota basis and we try to give pupils an opportunity to attend each Term. At 3.15pm School staff take the pupils and spend the hour bowling, parents or carers then collect their child at 4.30pm from the Wentworth Centre.
From January 2016 pupils will be asked to pay a termly amount as advised by the School Office which will be the equivalent of £4 a week, there is currently no charge for pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium funding. In December 2012 Stephen Miller attended our school to raise interest and enthusiasm for sport amongst pupils. The current After School Sports Club, aims to introduce children to a range of sports in a fun and lively format. Stephen’s visit was part of the Sport England “Sportivate” programme – designed to help encourage more young people into sport and ensure the Paralympic legacy.
