All absence requests must be approved by the Liz Davison, Head Teacher. If you need to make a request for your child to be out of school please download an absence form and send/email it into school. The Head Teacher will consider the request and return the form to you to let you know the decision.
In the event of bad weather a notice will be written on the front page of our website and local radios will be informed. Please see attached notes for parents.
Please see information attached for anyone dropping off or collecting pupils at our school.
All pupils have opportunities to have regular outings to enrich their classroom activities and the curriculum. Parents/carers will be informed and permission sought where possible. However some visits may be at short notice to take advantage of spontaneous events. School tries to fund as many curriculum areas as possible within our allocated budget. However, it is necessary in certain circumstances to ask for voluntary contributions in order to carry out all our planned activities. If insufficient contributions are made the planned visit may not take place.
Please ensure that school has at least two numbers where you can always be contacted during the school day in case of emergency. If your details change, please remember to tell the school office. Each year, the school office sends out Emergency Medical/Contact Forms for completion and following any changes to your contact details, another copy of this will be sent out to you for signature. We also annually send out permission forms for completion which outline permissions needed for activities throughout the school year.

Our online payment system allows parents to make payments online anytime of the day. To log in to your account go to www.schoolgateway.co.uk, we still accept money sent in with pupils in a named envelope but hopefully parents will find this new system more convenient.
The school day is 9am-3.15pm. Pupils are collected from taxis, buses or parents at 8.55am in the school foyer ready to be in classrooms at 9am. We hold a whole school assembly on Fridays at 1.20pm.
A third of a pint of milk per day is available. Milk is free to children under 5 years of age and to those in receipt of free school meals. Milk forms are available from the School Office and will be sent out before the end of each term, to enable us to order milk for the following term. We are unable to supply milk to any pupil without a completed form.
Parents/carers are asked for a voluntary contribution towards the cost of providing juice and healthy snacks at breaktime. Currently this is £15 each term.
Parents are requested to provide a swimming costume, a towel and swimming aids for pool sessions and are also asked to make a voluntary contribution of £2.10 each week towards the cost of swimming.
Any pupils who are doubly incontinent must wear appropriate swimwear to prevent leakages into the pool. All appropriate swimwear can be easily purchased from a company called 'swimwear for special people' for further information or to contact them visit www.ostomartstore.co.uk. They can also be contacted on 0845 6018341 for a catalogue or further information. Obviously there may be many other suppliers but this is one that we are aware of. Swimming nappies are only really suitable for very young children and the appropriate swimwear should be purchased for pupils over the weight of 17kg.
Swimming kit will usually be returned home to be washed. You will receive a copy of your child's timetable so you will know when they are timetabled to go swimming.
Lunchtimes are classed as part of teaching time. Younger pupils may need to learn the mechanics of eating, whilst others may need help with table manners and social skills. To support this learning Teaching Assistants are on duty at this time along with several Lunchtime Supervisors. Meals are cooked on the premises but some pupils do bring a packed lunch. Special diets can catered for and can be discussed with Louise Clarke, our Catering Manager.
The price for school lunches (from September 2015) is £2.20 for Primary and £2.30 for Seconday Department. Money can be paid online or sent into the school office at the beginning of each week, or monthly, or termly, in advance. Cheques should be made payable to "Hexham Priory School". The School Office will receipt any money sent in or if a payment is made online you will receive an automatic email.
